Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh city's Tan Son Nhat International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, you have the afternoon free to take a first look around. Tonight, you have a welcome dinner to look forward to. Enjoy your first night in Ho Chi Minh!
Start the day with a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an extensive network of underground tunnels used by the Vietnamese Revolutionary Army during the anti-American resistance war. Spanning over 200 km and reaching depths of 12 meters, the tunnels served as hiding spots, communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches, and living quarters for many North Vietnamese fighters. Your guide will lead you through this remarkable site, offering an unforgettable experience.
Afterward, return to the city to visit the Reunification Palace (formerly the Presidential Palace), built in 1962. Known for its distinctive 1960s architecture, the palace was the former residence and workplace of South Vietnam's presidents, and many of its original displays remain untouched. Next, take a quick visit to the neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral and the Saigon Central Post Office. Inside the post office, you’ll find two historic maps created after the building’s completion—one showing "Telegraphic Lines of Southern Vietnam and Cambodia in 1892" and the other illustrating "Saigon and Its Environment in 1892."
Return to your hotel to relax and enjoy your overnight stay in Saigon.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Cai Be. Upon arrival, visit a local workshop to observe the process of making rice paper, coconut products, and pop rice. Enjoy some sweets accompanied by a cup of hot tea. Next, take a rowing boat deeper into the countryside along smaller canals, where you can savor the tranquil atmosphere. Visit a local garden and enjoy fresh fruits with tea while listening to traditional music.
After lunch, head to Tan Phong Island for a bike ride through the village paths. Here, you'll get a glimpse of daily life, including orchards, schools, churches, pagodas, and traditional houses. Along the way, make stops to see how rice nets for spring rolls are made, how coconut leaves are woven for cottage roofs, and witness the fascinating process of weaving dried water hyacinth into various products like baskets, bags, hats, wallets, and shoes.
Return to the boat to cross the Mekong River, one of the longest rivers in the world, before transferring back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the morning, transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for a flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of Hoi An Ancient Town. Between the 15th and 19th centuries, Hoi An, known then as ‘Faifo,’ was a prosperous trading port, attracting ships from China, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain, among others. Today, this UNESCO World Heritage town is renowned for its well-preserved architecture, pedestrian-only streets, and distinctive local cuisine, offering a window into its vibrant past. Stroll through the narrow lanes of Hoi An and explore its atmospheric sights, including old merchant houses influenced by Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese architecture; the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, built in the 1590s to connect the Japanese and Chinese quarters; the Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation, with intricate woodcarvings; and the colorful market, where you’ll find silk and other local specialties, perfect for making a custom garment in just a day or two. You will end your tour in the heart of Hoi An’s old town.
After a short drive through the local countryside at 8:30 AM, we arrive at Tra Que Village, where you will be greeted by your host, Mr. Tuan, with a refreshing drink made from freshly picked fruits. Take a walk around the village to learn about its history and traditions. Stroll through the organic herb gardens where hundreds of local farmers work using traditional methods passed down through generations—no electric machinery here.
We return to Mr. Tuan’s home, where the real fun begins. Each guest is given farming tools to join the locals in preparing the land for sowing or planting. As you work, your host will explain traditional farming techniques, including fertilizing the garden with seaweed from the local river and watering it with large tin cans strapped to our backs. You’ll also pick fresh vegetables and herbs, learning how to properly wrap them to avoid damage. During this hands-on experience, you’ll gain insight into organic gardening practices.
Many of the herbs grown here are used for traditional village medicine, and you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a soothing herbal foot massage, following the true farmer concept.
Next, experience life in the farmer's house and learn about the ingredients used in daily cooking. You’ll then try your hand at making the village specialty, "Tam Huu" spring rolls, using the herbs and vegetables you’ve just picked, or you can make "Xeo Cake" (Banh Xeo). Afterward, sit down to enjoy a delicious local meal, featuring a menu of seven dishes based on family and countryside recipes.
At 1:30 PM, return to your hotel by bicycle.
In the morning, transfer to Da Nang International Airport for a short flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
Drive from the hotel through the historic Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam’s independence in 1945. Explore the impressive architecture and the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the square. Continue your tour with a stroll around Hanoi’s Old Quarter, visit the Lake of the Restored Sword, Ngoc Son Temple, the Temple of Literature, and the tranquil West Lake. The tour concludes with visits to Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple.
Next, visit the last traditional mask-making artisan in Hanoi. The handmade paper masks, infused with the smell of paper and glue, have been a cherished part of Hanoi’s Mid-Autumn Festival traditions for generations. The visit aims to raise awareness of preserving this centuries-old art form.
The day wraps up with a unique Water Puppet show, a northern Vietnamese art form believed to have originated in the flooded rice fields of the Red River Delta. Afterward, return to your hotel.
Wake up early to witness a captivating sunrise over the bay and join a Tai Chi session on the sundeck. After a light breakfast, continue exploring Halong Bay's hidden gems and stunning landscapes. Enjoy a delicious brunch on board as the cruise returns to the pier. After disembarking, you'll be transferred back to Hanoi, where you'll arrive in the afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel, concluding this unforgettable Halong Bay experience. Please note that the itinerary may vary depending on factors like the departure port, weather, and the selected cruise.
