I. What is Whale Island (Hon Ong)

Hon Ong or Whale Island is the name given to this beautiful small island. Located in Van Phong Bay, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province, about 100km from Nha Trang city, Hon Ong has an area of ​​about 40.00ha, without people living. In which, about 2ha has been invested in the resort construction by a French couple, and this is also the only resort on the island, the rest of the island remains untouched and peaceful with its lush all year round.

II. How to get to Hon Ong?

From the mainland to the island takes about 15-20 minutes, before that you have to go by road to Dam Mon wharf. At the pier, there is a resort ship that takes you to the island for free. Here are 3 ways to get you to the pier:

1. By resort ride

You only need to contact the reception of the resort to hire a shuttle bus. The fee for the shuttle bus in Nha Trang city is 20USD / person. If you do not want to go to Nha Trang city, you can quote the bus to pick up directly at Cam Ranh airport to the pier, the ticket price is about 25USD / person.

2. By ride motorbikes

You love freedom and want to explore nature, you can rent a motorbike in the city. With only VND 100,000 / person, it is simple and fast. Reset your ID card, pay the rental fee in advance for the number of days you want to rent and pick up the motorbike. To get to Dam Mon wharf, you can go along Highway 1A to Co Ma turn (about 80km). From this turn, there will only be about 20km left to reach the pier. Please control your speed while traveling.

3. By coach

From Nha Trang city, find your way to the north bus station and take the bus to Nha Trang – Tuy Hoa. This car goes through Co Ma (ticket price is about VND 50,000/ pax). You get off there to go to the pier by taking a motorbike taxi if you go from 1-2 people or taxi if you go with friends or family, just save and not afraid of the rain.

III. What to eat on Whale Island?

As the island is not inhabited, there is only a resort, so eating, sleeping and playing are all provided by this resort. You have to spend 14USD / person for such a set, and all sadly, no drinks are included. Regarding food, the majority of customers rated it quite delicious. One thing worth noting here is that drinks are reasonably priced. Only with VND 20,000 to VND 30,000, you can order yourself a cup of lemon tea, coffee, or a cocktail at VND 80,000.

IV. What to explore at Whale Island?

Visiting Whale Island, there will not be too many fun activities compared to the big islands or the mainland beaches. But undoubtedly the experience activities below will help you have unforgettable memories and experiences. 

1. Snorkeling

There are many coral reefs around the island. Only 60,000 VND/ pax, you will be granted 1 diving kit. Because it’s quite near the shore, there aren’t too many corals, you can clearly see everything here through the crystal blue water.

2. Kayaking around the island

I. Where is Hon Mot Island?

Hon Mot Island in Nha Trang embraces a peaceful beauty that allows tourists to enjoy the rustic and idyllic features of the most unique village in Khanh Hoa province. The island is suitable for young people wishing to experience and portray colorful paintings and daily life of Khanh Hoa people.

Hon Mot is located in Vinh Nguyen ward, to the Southeast of Nha Trang city, about 9km from the coast and this is the smallest island in Nha Trang bay with an area of less than 1km2.

II. How to get to Hon Mot Island?

You must travel by boats or canoes from Cau Da port to reach all of Nha Trang’s islands. From the city center, following Tran Phu street is the easiest route with less traffic jam.

You can take a taxi, Grab or rent a motorbike. If traveling by motorbike, the travel time is about 20 minutes, while taxis or Grab take 15 minutes. Reach Oceanographic Institute and you will see the port.

• Option 1: Self-sufficient means that you rent a canoe or ship. But you need to book in advance. They are only responsible for transporting you to the island, leaving you to take care of your own lunch or other expenses.

Fare: 500,000 VND – 1,700,000 VND/ boat or ship

• Option 2: Take the Nha Trang tour visiting many islands at the same time with 4 islands. Besides, you can also go to Tri Nguyen Aquarium, have lunch, play a floating bar. I. Where is Doc Let beach?

Doc Let also called Doc Lech, is located in Ninh Hai ward, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam. Doc Let Beach stretches with high white sand, separating the mainland from the sea with verdant palm trees.

About 49 km south of Nha Trang city center, Doc Let is famous as an ideal tourist destination in summer, which is extremely suitable for those wishing a vacation on the pristine beach.

II. What is the best time to visit Doc Let beach?

Doc Let is a coastal region, characterized by the tropical monsoon climate

The average annual temperature is 26.6 degrees Celsius. The most beautiful time to come to Doc Let is from January to September when it is sunny, sometimes combined with Southwest wind so the landscape is very airy and dry.

The time between October and December is the Northeast monsoon time, traveling at this time, you can only do sightseeing and can’t take part in exciting activities on the coast or underwater. Of course you cannot bathe on the beach this season because the water is very cold.

By plane: Airlines like Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways have flights from Hanoi, Saigon and Da Nang to Cam Ranh airport. You can order tickets online through these airlines, then to Cam Ranh airport and then to the center of Nha Trang city. Rent a taxi or motorbike to Doc Let.

By train: There are also stations from Hanoi, Saigon or Da Nang to Nha Trang with fares at around 250,000 – 400,000 VND / time for bed or hard seat tickets.

Doc Let Beach appears with a pristine beauty covered by pure white sand that captivates any visitor.
