On Monday, Vietjet Air, a Vietnamese budget airline, unveiled its latest direct air route that will connect Hanoi, Vietnam, and Jakarta, Indonesia. Commencing operations this September, this new route will be serviced by state-of-the-art aircraft, offering travelers four weekly flights between these two vibrant capital cities.
This marks Vietjet Air’s fourth direct route connecting Vietnam and Indonesia, significantly contributing to the expansion of weekly flight options between the two nations, totaling 92 by this coming December.
During the ceremony, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is presently in Jakarta to participate in the 43rd ASEAN Summit and associated gatherings, joined other distinguished members of the Vietnamese delegation. Prime Minister Chinh extended his congratulations to Vietjet Air for their strategic expansion initiative, specifically for launching this air route linking Hanoi and Jakarta. He highlighted the pivotal role this route will play in fostering trade and investment between the two nations.
Prime Minister Chinh emphasized Indonesia’s critical position as one of Vietnam’s key trading partners in Southeast Asia, underlining its status as a vast market with approximately 280 million consumers, including the bustling megacity of Jakarta, home to over 10 million residents.
Vietjet Air has set an ambitious target of transporting one million passengers annually between Indonesia and Vietnam as part of its forward-looking plans.
