In order to continue its commitment to sustainable, responsible and customer-centric tourism development, on May 13, 2025, Lux Travel DMC successfully organized a full-day workplace first aid and emergency response training course at the company’s headquarters in Hanoi. The training was led by Dr. Nguyen Viet Dong, Director of the Center for Health and Environmental Protection, and was attended by the entire company – from the board of directors and tour guides to drivers and company staff.
This milestone event reflects the company’s growing emphasis on workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and professional development, ensuring that every team member is equipped not only to serve but also to protect and respond effectively in the face of unforeseen incidents.
Why This First Aid Training Was Organized
Tourism is a dynamic industry where unexpected situations-from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies-can occur in real time, often in remote or logistically complex environments. As a leading Destination Management Company specializing in curated and sustainable travel experiences, Lux Travel DMC recognizes that guest safety and staff preparedness are non-negotiable foundations of exceptional service.
By providing essential first aid training to all employees, the company aims to:
- Enhance the immediate response capacity in case of workplace or tour-related accidents
- Equip every staff member with basic life-saving techniques
- Reinforce its commitment to safety-driven, sustainable travel operations
- Foster a culture of confidence, leadership, and team coordination in emergencies
This initiative forms part of a broader training strategy that Luxury Travel DMC is rolling out to support a stronger, safer, and more resilient internal culture.
Meet the Trainer – Dr. Nguyen Viet Dong
The session was led by Dr. Nguyen Viet Dong, a seasoned medical professional and public health educator. Currently serving as the Director of the Center for Health and Environmental Protection, Dr. Dong has conducted hundreds of first aid and safety training programs nationwide. His expertise bridges both academic theory and practical application, making him a sought-after trainer for organizations that prioritize workplace and environmental health.
With his calm and engaging teaching style, Dr. Dong provided structured modules, real-life examples, and direct hands-on instruction that resonated with tour guides, drivers and office-based participants. The content was specifically tailored to the travel and hospitality industry, ensuring that each team member could relate the material directly to their daily operations.
Full Attendance – A United Approach to Safety
The training was joined by team members from all parts of the company, including company leaders, tour guides, drivers, sales and marketing staff, office workers, and support staff. Everyone took part with great interest and energy.
This showed that Lux Travel DMC believes safety is the job of everyone, not just the people who work directly with guests. The training also showed that the company cares about learning and teamwork. By learning together, staff from different departments can better understand and help each other in real situations.
What the Training Covered
The course was designed to address a wide spectrum of emergency scenarios, particularly those relevant to tourism operations in urban, rural, and remote destinations across Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Participants were introduced to a blend of foundational knowledge, procedural skills, and scenario-based application.
Core training modules included:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR):
Recognizing cardiac arrest, performing chest compressions and rescue breathing using training mannequins. - Bleeding Control and Wound Care:
Techniques to stop bleeding, dress wounds, and manage infection risks using first aid kits. - Bone Fracture Immobilization:
Stabilizing limbs with bandages, splints, or makeshift materials commonly found in tour settings. - Victim Handling and Transportation:
Safely moving injured individuals with minimal risk of further harm, even in challenging terrain. - Food Poisoning & Toxic Exposure Response:
Identifying symptoms early and initiating the proper response while awaiting medical assistance. - General Emergency Protocols:
Ensuring safety at the scene, providing reassurance, calling emergency services, and effective delegation under pressure.
Dr. Dong also emphasized the golden rule of emergency care: preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery-ideals that align well with the values of responsible tourism.
A Strong Emphasis on Hands-On Practice
The interactive nature of the session made it stand out. Staff didn’t just observe-they practiced. Using professional CPR mannequins, real first-aid equipment, and practical exercises, trainees learned by doing. Scenarios were customized to reflect real situations that tour guides, drivers, or sales staff might face in the field, such as:
- A guest collapsing due to heat exhaustion
- A passenger suffering from motion sickness or food poisoning
- A cycling guest falling and breaking a wrist on a countryside tour
- A minor kitchen burn during a homestay cooking class
By simulating such cases, participants developed muscle memory, decision-making confidence, and a better understanding of teamwork in critical moments.
First Aid Training Certification
At the conclusion of the session, every participant received an Official First Aid Certificate from the Center for Health and Environmental Protection. This certification not only validates their training but also reflects Lux Travel DMC’s internal standards for professional competency and guest safety.
Strengthening Our Foundation for Responsible Travel
This First Aid Training is not a one-time event-it is part of a deeper strategy that places people, preparedness, and sustainability at the heart of Lux Travel DMC’s operations.
Whether it’s a private Mekong River cruise, a wellness retreat in Hue, or an eco-tour in the Central Highlands, our travelers can feel confident knowing that they are accompanied by a trained, responsible, and compassionate team-ready to respond, protect, and serve with heart.
