The Costa Serena, a cruise ship with the Italian flag, arrluxived in Phu Quoc, bringing 2,600 foreign tourists and marking the first international vessel to visit the area since the Covid pandemic. Due to its large size, the ship anchored approximately one kilometer away from the shore, and the passengers were transported to land using boats.

During their visit, the tourists explored several popular attractions on the island and engaged in shopping activities before departing at 7 p.m. on the same day. Bui Quoc Thai, the director of the Department of Tourism of Kien Giang Province, which encompasses Phu Quoc, stated that the majority of the visitors hailed from Thailand, Malaysia, Cuba, and various European countries.

The Costa Serena had previously embarked on a five-day journey from Thailand to Cambodia’s Sihanoukville before continuing its voyage to Phu Quoc. This impressive ship spans 290 meters in length and can accommodate a maximum of 3,700 passengers.

Phu Quoc, renowned for its sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush forests, has long been a sought-after holiday destination for both Vietnamese and international tourists. Furthermore, the island permits foreigners to enter without a visa for up to 30 days, further enhancing its appeal as a tourist hotspot.
