Over the first half of 2024, we have a look back our sustainability review. At Lux Travel DMC, our commitment to sustainable development has never been stronger. Partnering with Travelife, we have implemented various initiatives to promote environmental protection, reduce waste, and foster a culture of sustainability within our organization and the communities we serve.

Sustainability Review Key First half of 2024 – Achievements

1. Promoting Environmental Protection

At Lux Travel, we believe that fostering a culture of environmental responsibility is crucial for a sustainable future. This year, we have organized a series of fun and engaging activities centered around the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. These activities not only educate our community about the importance of environmental protection but also inspire them to take actionable steps in their daily lives. From interactive workshops to community clean-up drives, our initiatives have seen enthusiastic participation, making a tangible impact on our surroundings.

2. Reducing Printing and Using Eco-Friendly Materials for Branding 

Recognizing the environmental impact of excessive printing, we have taken significant steps to minimize our use of paper. By transitioning to digital platforms for most of our communications and promotional materials, we have substantially reduced our carbon footprint. Additionally, when printing is necessary, we opt for eco-friendly materials and sustainable printing practices. This not only aligns with our commitment to the environment but also sets a standard for responsible branding within the travel industry.

3. Participation in Travelife’s Training Course

Our dedication to sustainability extends to continuous learning and improvement. Our management team has completed an extensive training course in sustainable tourism offered by Travelife, an internationally recognized sustainability certification program. This training has equipped us with the knowledge and skills to implement best practices in sustainable tourism. We are proud to have earned a sustainability certificate from Travelife, validating our efforts and commitment to responsible travel.

4. Saying No to Plastic Wastes

In our fight against plastic pollution, we have introduced reusable fabric bags and water bottles to our clients and staff. By providing these alternatives, we aim to significantly reduce the use of single-use plastics. This initiative has been well-received, with many embracing the shift towards more sustainable habits. Our collective efforts are contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

5. Sustainability review –  Green Office Inititatives 

Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our office practices. We have implemented a comprehensive waste sorting system, encouraging our team to recycle and reduce waste effectively. Additionally, we have adopted measures to conserve water and electricity, such as posting nocite boards in all departments with the reminder “Switch of lights, fans, computers before leaving desk. Save Electricity” to promote mindful usage of resources. These practices not only reduce our environmental impact but also foster a culture of sustainability within our organization.

6. Green Transportation 

Transportation is a significant contributor to carbon emissions. To mitigate this, we actively encourage our team to use public transportation for their daily commute. This not only reduces our overall carbon footprint but also supports the use of eco-friendly transport options. We believe that small changes in our daily routines can collectively lead to substantial environmental benefits.

7. Free Refilled Water Stations 

Access to clean drinking water is a basic necessity, and we are committed to providing this sustainably. We planed set up free refilled water stations at various locations, encouraging the use of reusable water bottles. This initiative helps reduce plastic waste while ensuring that everyone has access to safe drinking water.

8. Water Tank Project for Dong Van, Ha Giang 

In collaboration with LuxGroup members, we launched the water tank project to support the ethnic minority for  water scarcity in Đồng Văn, Hà Giang. We donated 25 water tanks and 48 gift sets to  Sa phin and Pa Vi commune  in the region. This project not only provides essential resources but also demonstrates our commitment to supporting underserved communities. By addressing critical needs, we aim to improve the quality of life for those affected by water scarcity.

9. Establishment of Lux Foundations  

The Lux Foundations have been established with the goal of bringing sustainable solutions to minority communities in Ha Giang. Our initiatives focus on providing access to clean water and solar electricity, addressing two critical needs in these regions. By leveraging sustainable technologies, we aim to create long-term, positive impacts on the lives of these communities, promoting resilience and self-sufficiency.

10. Nominated by World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards 

We are thrilled and honored to be nominated for three prestigious awards by the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards:
