LuxGroup, a leading travel and hospitality corporation in Asia, is making a splash in Ha Giang with a water tanks donation project aimed at alleviating the severe water shortage faced by ethnic minorities in the rocky plateau region.

On June 15, 2024, LuxGroup donated 25 water tanks to poor households in Lung Thau village, Sa Phin commune, Dong Van district, in an effort to address the severe water shortage in the Ha Giang rocky plateau.

At the event, Mr. Pham Ha, CEO of LuxGroup, said: “In the spirit of mutual love and support, we are determined to bring loving gifts to the people here though the road to Ha Giang is still facing many difficulties after the flood on June 10, we hope that these gifts will somehow ease the difficulties for the people in Sa Phin.”
Mr. Ha also said that the event marks the beginning of the “water tank donation project for the ethnic minorities in the Ha Giang rocky plateau” initiated by LuxGroup, with the aim of solving the serious water shortage in the rocky plateau area, especially during the dry season (from September to December each year) when people have to walk many kilometers to fetch water for their homes.
In addition to donating water tanks, LuxGroup also presented 48 gift packages to disadvantaged households. Of these, the enterprise presented 28 packages to poor and near-poor households and families affected by the floods in Lung Thau village and 20 packages to Pa Vi Ha village, Meo Vac district. Speaking to reporters from the Economic and Environmental Electronic Journal, Mr. Ha affirmed that the group will allocate 5% of the value when customers buy tours to Ha Giang to contribute to the “Lux Foundations” fund to support the community and provide water tanks and solar power for people in the Ha Giang rocky plateau.
“The LuxGroup Foundations fund will mobilize to bring clean water to the 10 remaining villages of this border commune,” Mr. Ha said.
Sharing at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh, Secretary of Sa Phin commune, expressed his gratitude to LuxGroup, Ha Giang Tre Travel (a local enterprise) and philanthropists for helping to buy 25 water tanks with a capacity of 1,200 liters, contributing to solving the domestic water needs for one of the 11 villages in the commune.

“We are happy that this is the first time Lung Thau village has received such a large number of water tanks, helping to solve the serious water shortage that the people are facing. We hope that in the coming time, there will be more sponsors to help us improve infrastructure and bring sunlight from solar power to the village to make the people’s lives better and better,” Mr. Hanh shared.
Also at the event, Ms. Dinh Thi Say, a resident of Lung Thau village, could not hide her joy that from now on she will no longer have to walk nearly ten kilometers to fetch water every day.

“I am so happy and happy to receive a water tank for the first time. From now on, I will no longer have to worry about water shortages during the dry season. This water tank not only helps me and my family have clean water to use but also brings joy and hope to us,” Ms. Say expressed.
