(Siem Reap, October) The new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) will be put into operation from October 16, with non-profitable test flights set to be conducted from October 5 to 15.
Construction started in March 2020 by Angkor International Airport Investment. This US $1.1 billion airport is located in Tayek commune, Sotr Nikum district, about 51 kilometres from Siem Reap provincial city and 40 kilometres from Angkor Wat Temple.
“The new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport will be an important gateway for flights from around the world given its contemporary facilities and larger size than the existing airport” – Mr. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, Spokesperson of SSCA shared. He added that the new airport will have 38 gates and can handle large passenger planes like the Airbus A-340-300 and A350-900 as well as the Boeing B777-200/300ER and B747-300/400.
