North Vietnam 
In January, North Vietnam is blessed with the prime of winter which brings the driest days of the year with almost no rain. You can tour around Hanoi and other cities in the sunshine without feeling tired as temperatures will remain quite cool (avg. 15 – 18 °C). However, in the northern mountainous areas, the weather is truly chilly, especially at night, so don’t forget to prepare warm clothes. Besides, the foggy haze is not unusual in Halong Bay, Cat Ba island and other beaches, which hinders you from enjoying the scenery. 

Central Vietnam 
As you head to Central Vietnam, the weather gets warmer and warmer. In Hue, Da Nang, and Nha Trang, the wet season is about to draw to an end with temperatures varying between 20 and 23°C. Da Lat and the Central Highlands also no longer have prolonging rains but the weather is cooler in the early morning and at night.

South Vietnam 
Meanwhile, January is one of the most ideal months to visit Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern provinces. It is in the middle of the dry season with clear blue skies and little rain across the region. You can immerse yourself in the sunshine and water activities within the islands and coastal areas such as Phu Quoc, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, etc

North Vietnam
In March, the weather in the North has gone through the severe and unpredictable phase. Although it remains cool, temperatures start to rise higher than in the first 2 months of the year with sudden rains falling in small precipitation (avg temp: 19°C). Also, the warmer climate makes it best for trekking in the mountains.

Central Vietnam 
Many Central coast cities including Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue, Hoi An turn into beach paradises in this period with constant sunshine, warm water and pristine scenery (avg temp: 28°C). Luckily, Dalat and the Central Highlands are also at an excellent mode.

South Vietnam 
Temperatures in the south are also higher than in the previous months but this has not been the peak hot month of the year yet. Southern islands and beaches like Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, Con Dao are still the ideal places to go for high blue sky and sunny beaches. You can continue diving around Con Dao island with the clear visibility averaging from 20 – 30 metres.

North Vietnam

April is the last month of spring, wrapping up the festive season of Lunar New Year as well as the winter in North Vietnam. From this month onward, the average temperature throughout the region rises, with a few rainy days towards the end of the month (avg temp: 24°C). The far mountainous areas including Sapa, Ha Giang, Mu Cang Chai are in excellent condition for trekking and exploring.

Central Vietnam
The Central coastal areas like Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue, Hoi An remain ideal for swimming and other water-based activities with sunny days and blue skies (avg temp: 28°C). Dalat and the Central Highlands are also enjoying the good weather. 

South Vietnam
In South Vietnam, it’s not different much from summer with average temperature 30-33°C despite the increasing rainfall. Within this month, Phu Quoc, Con Dao, Phan Thiet & Mui Ne still remain amongst the best of Vietnam’s beach choices.

North Vietnam
May is the month right before hot, sticky summer hits North Vietnam. The sun shines, nice breezes blow and temperature rises slightly to 30 °C; however, you can barely feel the heat in early May. The rain happens more frequently but also end quickly. May is still a good month to explore Mu Cang Chai and Sapa while the east of Ha Giang starts to experience more rains.

Central Vietnam
The Central beaches of Hue, Dan Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang are also enjoying the perfect days with sunshine and blue skies (avg temp: 30°C). In Dalat and the Central Highlands, rainfall is on the increase but you can expect plenty of dry days to discover the splendid landscapes.

South Vietnam
South Vietnam slowly begins to slip towards its wet season as the rains seemingly appear more frequently, which helps bring down the steamy heat of the past months. Rain tends to fall in the afternoon in short, heavy downpours.

North Vietnam
The North is fully into summer mode with high temperatures and frequent rains, even severe storms (avg temp: 30°C). In the northern mountainous region, there is a real threat of landslides and flash floods during the heavy rains, so trekking or hiking is not suggested at that time.

Central Vietnam
Central Vietnam has now hit peak temperatures with the intense amount of sunlight and clear, blue skies, suitable for some photoshoots. The beaches of Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang and Nha Trang are at their best (avg temp: 30 °C) whilst precipitation is still on the increase in Dalat and the Central Highlands. The weather in June also facilitates enjoying the annual International Firework Competition in Da Nang city.

South Vietnam
The South is now in the middle of the wet season with slightly heavier rains coupled with dry and bright daylight hours (avg temp: 28 °C). June marks the start of “green turtle” hatching season on the endless blue beaches of Con Dao island.

North Vietnam
North Vietnam remains in summer mode meaning you can expect the hot weather but you need to be alert to heavy downpours with strong winds and thunders. In fact, July is one of the wettest months of the year in Hanoi and Halong Bay. Besides, floods and landslides in northwest mountains can happen after long, heavy rains, might pose certain threats for your trekking journey.

Central Vietnam
July is also a great time to visit the cities of the central coastal provinces including Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue and Nha Trang with plenty of sunshine and blue skies expected throughout the month. Temperatures remain high but the unusual rains sometimes appear, helping temper the hot weather (avg temp: 31°C). Meanwhile, the high rainfall in Dalat and the Central Highlands hinders extensive trekking and adventure activities.

South Vietnam
In south Vietnam, the wet season just hits its peak with daily downpours, especially in the Mekong Delta; however, you can still expect some dry and bright daylight hours (avg temp: 29°C). The Southern Islands are the good places to enjoy the cool ocean, sunny skies and savory seafood.

North Vietnam
In the north, the temperature is still high but not as severe as in two previous months as the occasional rains accompanied with thunders and lightning can cool down (avg temp: 30°C). Rainy season still goes on northwest mountainous areas; therefore, trekking or hiking is off the cards throughout the month.

Central Vietnam
The central beaches of Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, and Nha Trang still see the good weather within the month but the rain seems to back off towards the end of the month. On the contrary, Dalat and the Central Highlands are now very wet, making adventure activities unadvisable. 

South Vietnam
The south is now firmly into its wet season when the rains will be slightly heavier than in previous months (avg temp: 29°C). In the Mekong Delta, August marks the start of the flooding season caused by the Mekong River. You can also observe green turtle hatchlings emerging from the beaches on Con Dao.

North Vietnam
In northern Vietnam, September is the ending of summer with the temperature dropping significantly and the rainfall becoming less frequent than the months of June to August. In the far north, the weather is starting to improve, making trekking an option again. Northwest Vietnam in general and Mu Cang Chai in particular become a picturesque paradise with its gorgeous golden rice terraces, ready to harvest.

Central Vietnam
Wet weather is on the increase in central provinces where rain is expected to become more frequent. Temperatures drop a little and storms seem to occur towards the end of the month (avg temp: 28°C). Dalat and the Central Highlands are now very wet, holding back trekking and adventure activities.

South Vietnam
In the south, rainfall is less and less while the Mekong Delta enters in its flooding season. However, you can also still expect plenty of dry and bright daylight hours (avg temp: 28°C).

North Vietnam
Autumn officially arrives in North Vietnam when October begins. Things continue to improve as the weather has cooled off for the most part due to mild temperature and cool breezes, the skies are clearer, and leaves are changing colors to yellow. October also sees the end of the wet season, giving way to drier days. The beauty of the northwest and Mu Cang Chai in October is in its prime with endless golden rice fields, suitable for your trekking tours.

Central Vietnam
In the Central provinces such as Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An and Nha Trang, the rain becomes the norm, even severe storms frequently take place. However, rain does not dilute the beauty of this region, for example, Hue drizzle has become a source of inspiration for many poets and artists. On the contrary, the heavy rains in Dalat and the Central Highlands gradually break towards the end of the month, which facilitates outdoor activity returning.

South Vietnam
In the south, the temperature remains steady, ranging from 24 to 31°C with significantly less rain compared with previous summer months. The beaches of Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, Con Dao start to recover with the slight sunshine, especially at the end of the month.

North Vietnam
The drier, cooler weather has surely returned to northern cities, making November one of the best months to visit. Temperatures drop even further down and the rain becomes infrequent and light (avg temp: 24°C). The weather in mountainous regions of Mu Cang Chai, Sapa, and Ha Giang is dry and clear, allowing you to experience some of the best trekking conditions of the year. 

Central Vietnam
The rainfall in the central Vietnam is at its peak and heavy storms can occur throughout the region. In particular, Hoi An is prone to flooding in November; however, people still visit the ancient town for a hot cup of coffee in the rain. Meanwhile, in Dalat and the Central Highlands, it is a different story with clear skies and a little rainfall.

South Vietnam
South Vietnam welcomes back the summer with some of the best weather of the year characterised by sunny days, clear skies and low humidity (avg temp: 27°C). The beaches of Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, Con Dao are enjoying plenty of sunshine and dry weather, suitable for all kinds of water activities.

North Vietnam
December, with bright skies and chilly breezes, is the beginning of winter in north Vietnam as well as one of the driest months in Hanoi and the north. The rain is expected in the small amount and temperatures remain moderate throughout the region (avg temp: 19°C). The far northern mountains of Mu Cang Chai, Sapa and Ha Giang are still in good conditions; however, temperature can drop down more deeply at night.

Central Vietnam
In central Vietnam, the rain has significantly dropped although storms are still a possibility especially early in December, returning the beaches of Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hoi An to their original beauties. Throughout the region, temperatures are close to their lowest for the year (avg temp: 24°C). Dalat remains perfect with dry, clear days despite cold evenings.

South Vietnam
If you want to stay away from the winter in North Vietnam, head south for some beaches of Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, Con Dao that are immersed in warm sunshine, clear skies and little rain. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City remains cooler with less humidity (avg temp: 26°C).
