Last week, Lux Travel DMC, Asia’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator, recently held green tourism trainings at its Hanoi Head Office in Vietnam. The event welcomed more than 20 participants from various departments, including sales, operations, and product teams, especially tour guides and drivers—the front-line team members who connect directly with customers and deliver services. This training marks a new step in Lux Travel DMC’s commitment to sustainable tourism development and adherence to Travelife criteria.

Green Tourism Trainings
The training focused on equipping tour guides and drivers with knowledge and skills in sustainable tourism practices based on Travelife standards. Key topics covered included respectful interactions with tourists and locals, respecting local culture and products, protecting children from labor exploitation and abuse, and wildlife conservation. Notably, drivers were guided on fuel-saving techniques and reducing emissions to minimize environmental impact.
Ms. Pham Huong, Head of Tour Operations and Travelife Sustainability Coordinator at Lux Travel DMC, stated that training guides and drivers not only enhances their knowledge but also fosters a deeper understanding of the positive impact of sustainable tourism. According to her, guides and drivers play a pivotal role in communicating messages of environmental and cultural protection to travelers. She emphasized, “We aim for each team member to be not just a service provider but a green ambassador, contributing to Lux Travel DMC’s mission for a plastic waste-free future and sustainable development.”
Green Tourism Trainings: Commitment to Sustainability
During the training, Lux Travel DMC also highlighted its commitment to reducing plastic waste, in line with its pioneering role as a member of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) and the Vietnam Green Tourism Association (VGTA). To support the goal of “Plastic Waste-Free Tourism” by 2025, Lux Travel DMC provided reusable water bottles for use at water refill stations and fabric bags to all participating staff. Tour guides and drivers were encouraged to set an example for tourists by using reusable items and properly disposing of waste, practical steps to help preserve natural landscapes at tourist destinations.
Participants who completed the sustainable tourism training by Lux Travel will receive a certificate confirming their participation.
In addition to training tour guides and drivers, Lux Travel’s coordinators also conducted brief sustainability sessions for staff and suppliers, aligning with Travelife standards as they have already been trained well by experts from Travelife.
Sustainability Vision for 2030
With a vision of achieving “Net Positive” by 2030, Lux Travel DMC has implemented numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities coordinated by the LuxGroup Foundation. These include donating 25 water tanks to communities in Dong Van Stone Plateau, cleanup efforts to keep Ha Long Bay pristine, and an upcoming campaign to plant 2,000 trees in Yen Bai this November. These initiatives lay the foundation for Lux Travel DMC to achieve sustainable tourism certification and work towards the Travelife green certificate.
