Vietnam’s luxury travel landscape is moving beyond private cars, five-star hotels and familiar sightseeing. For experienced travellers, the more difficult question is increasingly what can still feel genuinely rare? In Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng, a newly surveyed cave may offer one of the most unusual answers of 2026.
In June 2026, cave specialists from Jungle Boss, working with the Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng National Park Management Board, surveyed Hang Thắng, or Victory Cave, in the park’s strictly protected zone. The preliminary survey recorded a cave approximately 3,000 metres long, with an average width of around 70 metres and sections exceeding 100 metres, alongside unusually large cave pearls and extensive limestone formations.

The cave is located in the Ma Da Valley, between Elephant Cave and Ma Da Lake, in what is now Thuong Trach Commune, Quảng Trị Province. This location is important because it places Victory Cave inside a strictly protected part of Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng rather than in an area already developed for conventional mass tourism.
The preliminary survey revealed a surprisingly large underground system. Victory Cave extends for roughly 3,000 metres, with an average width of approximately 70 metres and several sections opening beyond 100 metres. The cave has two entrances leading to separate branches; the main entrance is only around five square metres, while the exit is narrow enough for only one adult to pass at a time.
Inside, the survey team recorded extensive stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone formations and columns, with some formations rising to around 50 metres. Particularly notable were numerous clusters of cave pearls, rare mineral formations created as calcite accumulates around small particles in shallow pools. The concentration and size of these formations were highlighted by the survey team as an unusual geological feature.

References to this part of Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng as being in Quảng Bình are now administratively outdated: Quảng Bình and Quảng Trị were merged into the new Quảng Trị Province from 1 July 2025, and the national park is now managed under Quảng Trị Province.

Victory Cave is the June 2026 discovery in Ma Da Valley, following the six-day survey conducted by Jungle Boss in cooperation with the national park management board. It should not be confused with the separate British-led cave survey reported earlier in 2026, which identified another group of previously unrecorded caves in a different part of the park.
This distinction is more than a technical detail for travellers. The June discovery is specifically associated with Hang Thắng, its approximately 3,000-metre mapped length, its cave pearls and its location between Elephant Cave and Ma Da Lake.
