(Halong – September 21) – LuxGroup organized nearly 100 employees and volunteers in collaboration with local people in Halong to participate in the “Greener Together, Clean Halong Bay” campaign. The goal was to address the waste aftermath left by Typhoon Yagi.
Halong, known as one of the most attractive island and beach destinations for both domestic and international tourists, has been left scattered with waste two weeks after Typhoon Yagi. Nearly 2 kilometers of the Tuan Chau beach are still littered with waste from local fish farms. On the bay and surrounding islands, plastic waste floats on the water, carried over from sunken boats.
Realizing the urgency of cleaning up before the start of the international tourist season, LuxGroup called upon its employees and volunteers from Hanoi to join hands with local residents in cleaning up the beaches and Ha Long Bay through the “Greener Together, Clean Ha Long Bay” campaign.
LuxGroup launched “Greener Together, Clean Halong bay”The campaign was conducted in two shifts, focusing on key areas along Tuan Chau beach and famous tourist spots in the bay. In the afternoon, the team focused on cleaning the Tuan Chau International Port, including both the shores and underwater areas.
For the areas in the bay, volunteers organized boat trips, including speed boats, to the islands to collect waste. It is estimated that on September 21, the group collected approximately five truckloads of waste, including two tons of plastic waste, foam, nylon, and bamboo floating in the bay. The waste will be sorted and processed according to Quang Ninh province’s environmental standards, with priority given to recycling reusable materials.
Mr. Pham Ha, CEO of LuxGroup, shared with the press about the motivation behind this decision: “LuxGroup considers the protection of Ha Long Bay a vital responsibility, not only because of the group’s sustainability commitments but also because this is a national tourism symbol. Sustainability is not just a slogan but tangible actions. Ha Long Bay must be preserved and maintained in its beauty to welcome international tourists.” This cleanup initiative is part of a series of events organized by LuxGroup to protect the environment and support local communities
Since Typhoon Yagi, there has been a sharp increase in waste, prompting several local organizations and residents in Ha Long to spontaneously form volunteer groups, cleaning up the beaches of Halong daily. On Halong Bay, Lux Cruises, a member of LuxGroup, also organizes daily cleanups with their staff at Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. However, given the enormous amount of waste at present, this task requires the collective efforts of more organizations and volunteers to help restore Halong to its natural beauty.
