Every year, Lux Travel DMC organizes a motivation holiday for its staff to relax after a hard working year. It is also a great chance for the team to bond and have fun “off the job”.

Biking in Viet Hai village

This summer, we went to new locations, Cat Ba Island and Lan Ha Bay. Located off the coast of Hai Phong City, Cat Ba Island has 367 islands and diverse ecosystems. Over 4 days and 3 nights, we had the opportunity to admire the pristine beauty of Cat Ba Island’s natural resources and the tranquil fishing villages which helped us to reaffirm and appreciate just how beautiful our country really is.

Our 30-member group left 5 Nguyen Truong To street at 9 am. After 2 hours of driving, we arrived at Ben Binh Port to board a speedboat to Cat Ba Island which took around 45 minutes. We then checked in to Hung Long Hotel, a popular place with good service and quality in Cat Ba Town.
On the first day of our trip, we went to the Cannon Fort – a historical relic associated with the French and American wars. We took in the panoramic views of Cat Ba Island from above with the islands rising out of the water, dotted with many colorful fishing boats. We arrived here at 6 pm – the best time to watch the sky change color which creates a lovely, romantic setting. In the evening, people leisurely cycle around the town on tandem bikes and feel the cool breeze blowing in from the sea.

On the second day, we visited the Cat Hai Fish Sauce Village – the famous fish sauce of the Northern region that has a very special taste. Lux Travel DMC Team witnessed the process of producing fish sauce, a fermentation of anchovies and sea salt.
On this day, they moved to Cat Ba National Park – known as an important biosphere reserve in the world. They hiked the trail leading up to the top of Ngu Lam, and on the way, we were led by guides to the Kim Giao wood Forest – a precious wood that was used to make chopsticks for the kings and emperors of Vietnam. The area is also home to the white-headed langur – one of the rarest primate species in the world, that only exists in Cat Ba Island.
In the afternoon, we joined in team building activities with physical games such as underwater volleyball… After the game ended, we immersed ourselves in the blue water of Cat Co 3 Beach which ended two happy days in Cat Ba Town.
The last two days, we cruised on Lan Ha Bay and saw the islands with lovely shapes. On the way to Lan Ha Bay, we visit Viet Hai village. The scenery is breathtaking, and biking with the bike view is amazing. We spent one-hour biking to reach the village and en route we could hear the fog singing and admired the charm of a quiet countryside with distant echoes of wild animals. Local people keep their village very clean, even on the water. They are particularly friendly, and the only vehicles present are electric cars, which makes it a peaceful place.

We stopped at Ba Trai Dao where we bathed in the blue water and enjoyed a delicious lunch with seafood dishes. Then, moving to Nam Cat Island, we rested in the bungalows for the remaining 2 days. The tide levels her changes rapidly and in the morning during low-tide, it’s possible to walk from one side of the island to the other.

The entire trip was great fun, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all members of the Lux Travel DMC team, who are eagerly awaiting the adventure in store on next year’s motivational holiday!
