Among several islands in Phu Quoc, Pineapple Island (Hon Thom Island) is a wonderful one to visit. Located in the South of Phu Quoc, this is the biggest and most beautiful island of Hon Thom district, An Thoi archipelago. Not overly crowded and invaded by tourism, you will feel a specific peaceful and rustic vibe once coming here, and if you are in for off the beaten track adventures? Then Pineapple Island is the perfect heaven for you!

The best time to go is during the dry season, starting from November until March. This time of year, the weather in Hon Thom Island specifically and Phu Quoc generally is sunshine with temperatures between 25°C and 28°C, perfect for any water sports or relaxing activities on the beach.

How to get to Pineapple Island

Being the biggest island of Hon Thom district, Pineapple Island or Hon Thom can be accessed by boats, canoes or by cable car. You need to get to An Thoi port because all boats depart there.

  • You can call a cab to take you to the port, which is just 23 kilometers away from An Thoi port.
  • But if you go by motorbike, take the Tran Hung Dao road and after just 30 minutes, you will reach the port.

From there, tourists can buy boat tickets to Hon Thom. If you choose the boat trip, it would take another 30 minutes but with speedboat, the journey will be shortened in half but the price is much higher.

You should not miss the Nom beach and Chuong beach, which are located on the Southwest and North of the island respectively. Their dreamy beauty is on par with any other renowned beaches in Vietnam or Asia with gentle waves, golden sand, and crystal clear seawater. But remember to skip Chuong beach in the windy season, starting from June to August every year since the big waves may cause you danger.

Squid fishing? Pineapple islands are the right place

If you are a not-so-sporty person, then don’t miss out on the chance to catch squid in a Vietnamese tradition basket boat at midnight. You will be taken to the right place by locales or go on your own if you prefer. After that strange trip, a grilled squid party on the boat is waiting for you!
