Phu Quoc holidays

A Tropical Paradise on Earth

Discover our
Phu Quoc Holidays

Phu Quoc is what Phuket would be if it hadn’t been overrun by development. Phu Quoc’s beaches were voted the cleanest and most beautiful in the world by ABC News. It is also famous for producing the best “nuoc mam” (fermented fish sauce) in the world. An interesting alternative excursion is to one of the island’s fish sauce factories in Duong Dong, although visitors should be prepared for the pungent odor for which the sauce is famed. A tour of the island takes in pepper plantations and the war memorial and former prison, both of which are located in the south of the island. Phu Quoc produces an incredible 400 tonnes of the best quality black pepper each year. Pepper plantations are mostly found around the central and northern parts of the island and most farmers are happy for visitors to take photos of pepper trees or the drying process. Organized tours also visit the Khu Tuong pepper gardens for a close look and to view the overall harvesting and drying process. Nothing tastes as fresh as this black pepper The best weather for diving, with the calmest waters, is from mid-September to late May, although diving is available most of the year. Phu Quoc provides ideal conditions for those wishing to learn to dive.

Travel Guide

1. Best time for Phu Quoc Holidays

As with all destinations in the south of Vietnam, Phu Quoc Island can be split into two seasons characterized dry season and rainy season.

According to our experience of traveling to Phu Quoc, the best time to go to the island is the dry season. That is from the end of October until March of the following year, in addition, it can last until May if the weather is favorable. At this time, the weather in Phu Quoc is less rainy, cool and cool waves are very convenient for traveling and relaxation.

In the east pearls can be bought in pretty Ham Ninh fishing village, and local seafood sampled at Kim Cuong. To the south, at Sao Beach, more seafood is available at My Lan restaurant on the beach. Head further south to discover An Thoi, then back up the stunning west coast road. Stop off at Phu Quoc Pearl Farm for coffee and delicious ice cream. At night a chain of lights bobbing across the horizon can be seen which is where the local fishermen attach lamps to their boats to attract squid

Go squid fishing in the evening, visit Phu Quoc National Park or swim in a quiet pool.

Mountain bikes are easily availed- able to hire from the Saigon Phu Quoc Hotel or some local shops and an ideal way to explore.

Scuba diving is perfect for inexperienced divers as the water is shallow (max depth 12-16m). Dives can be arranged from boats or organized snorkeling with full-day trips to the islands in the south.

Fast boats connect Phu Quoc to both Ha Tien (11⁄2 hours) and Rach Gia (21⁄2 hours). Five operators offering very similar services, including Duong Dong Express and Superdong, run fast boats from Rach Gia to Phu Quoc’s Bai Vong on the east coast, most departing at 8 am and making the return journey at 1 pm. Fast ferries from Ha Tien arrive at the Ham Ninh port, just north of Bai Vong. Seas can be rough between June and September. During peak season, fast ferries run extra trips between Ha Tien and Phu Quoc

The Rabbit Hole Irish Bar

This is one of the best places to end up during your night out in Phu Quoc island, or you can spend the whole day. There are plenty of activities here to keep you entertained: dartboards, pool tables, classic Nintendo games, poker, Jenga, Connect-4, and more. All of this comes with a great lounge and house music, awesome comfort food and drinks, and even nitrous balloons. Go easy on those though.

Coco Bar

Established in 2012, Coco Bar is your standard beach bar and has everything any self-respecting beach bar should have: an open-air setting with chairs spilling onto the pavement, fantastic views, friendly and attentive service, great grub choices, and of course, drinks. You will also find a bonus: shisha! There is a pool table for passing pool sharks to show off their skills, board games for those who have run out of things to talk about, and cute puppy dogs running about for those who love giving belly rubs. And that’s not even the best part! Coco Bar is actually known for its delicious homemade rum. We recommend the coconut rum, the passion fruit rum, and the tri-colored rum shot. If rum is not your thing, try the coconut-infused wine. You can also buy some bottles as souvenirs.

Skye Bar

This is a bar that just came into operation in 2017. At the rooftop of Phu Quoc Ocean Pearl Hotel so it has the extremely beautiful and cool view, can see from here covering the island. And watching the full moon night is extremely romantic. As for the décor, this is an open space, without ceilings and walls, all the furniture is wooden and kerosene to make each table look quite sweet. The plus point here is very good music and a bit western. Skye Bar is usually lively and fun after 10 pm so you should hang out and then visit the Bar afterward.

Q Sky Bar

Shredded coconut and sliced raw herring are mixed with mint and onion then wrapped with fresh vegetables in rice paper and dipped in special sauce. The ingredients for the sauce are chopped chili, garlic, shallots, roasted peanuts which are all mixed with authentic Phu Quoc fish sauce in order to create a spicy yet fragrant and unforgettable flavor.
