Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival Denpasar – Sanur

Arrive in the afternoon at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar where the guide and driver will transfer the guests to the selected hotel. Check in to the hotel in Sanur and the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Sanur.

After breakfast, head to Sidemen for an unforgettable and uniquely cultural “Balinese daily life” program. After arriving in the village, be introduced to a local Balinese family and receive a conical hat and bamboo stick. These will come in handy on the 1-hour walk through the village’s rice fields that commences shortly after.

After having a proper look around the village, it’s time to take a step in the shoes of a local Balinese farmer. Try ploughing rice fields with a water buffalo and planting rice seedlings. Be rewarded for this hard work with a cold, fresh coconut.

After the farming experience, take part in four short workshops, 20 minutes each: a cooking lesson, offering and palm-leaf decoration, arak (a Balinese rice wine) distillation and iron working. After a hard day’s ‘work’, settle down and enjoy a proper Balinese lunch served in the village. Return to the hotel following lunch. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Overnight in Sanur.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for a full-day excursion of Bali’s rice bowl on e-bikes.

Venture into the hinterland of Bali with its panoramic views at the slopes of the Batukaru mountain range. The rice terraces of Jatiluwih are recognized by the UNESCO as cultural heritage for their unique Subak irrigation system. Exploring the terraces on an e-bike allows you to maximize now only your comfort level but also to experience the best parts of the region. After a short safety briefing, set off for a 2-hour bicycle ride (50% flat, 20% downhill, 30% uphill with battery power) led by an experienced guide. Ride along farmers doing their daily routine, pass a bamboo forest and make a stop at the Besi Kalung temple located in the middle of the bowl shaped rice terrace fields with panoramic views.

A Balinese-style Lunch will be served in the rice fields. Continue along panoramic roads deep into a forest to discover one of the less visited mystical spring temples of Bali that Balinese Hindus visit for the purpose of purification, Tambo Waras. Its name translates as “health” and “medicine” and for this reason. Despite being hardly visited by travellers, it is popular with the local Balinese to find cure and relief. At the bottom of the rice bowl, towards the coast, there is a ceramic village, Pejaten, where rice husks light up the kilns. It has been a centre of pottery for generations and produces vast types of pottery including jars, panels, and trays and so called Coblong; small bowls used both in the kitchen as well as for ceremonial purposes. Visit the local ceramic museum showcasing various kinds of pottery and ceramics which have been made in the village and other parts of Indonesia.

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon

Spend today in leisure.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Seminyak Culinary Crawl

Get ready for a flavorful night out. Join a local guide for a Seminyak food tour along the main strip and the hip Petitenget area, long standing favorite destinations for dining and nightlife in Bali.

When the sun begins to set, head to a stylish rooftop bar on a vintage Vespa to start the evening with a cocktail and magnificent views. After the sun has dipped into the ocean and while the surfers catch their last waves, continue to a chic eatery that combines contemporary international and traditional Indonesian themes. A healthy starter platter is served while outside on one of the busiest streets of Seminyak. Indulge in a bit of people watching as local residents and tourists flock to the diverse dining venues in the area.

Take a short drive to the next stop on this culinary crawl, arriving at a wooden Javanese Joglo house for the main course. Tuck in to a dinner of Nasi Campur, tapas-style Indonesian dishes served around a rice pyramid. Savor the exotic spices and delicate flavors of truly authentic local cuisine.

Then it is time for dessert. Step into a stylish lounge set amid the rice paddies where a delicious sweet dessert is served. Soak up the views of the illuminated rice fields while satisfying the sweet tooth.

Having tasted the best of Seminyak’s culinary scene, return to the hotel or, for night owls, continue to one of the many bars in the area for a nightcap.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: WHITE WATER RAFTING

There are two options for whitewater rafting: The Telaga Waja River is more challenging, with Class III rapids while the Ayung River is not as fast-flowing and has Class II and III.

Be picked up from the hotel between 07:45–08:15 and transfer to the river. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes.

Upon arrival, be greeted by the rafting guides and receive a helmet, lifejacket and paddle. The guides will then provide a safety briefing and explain and demonstrate paddling techniques. A ‘dry bag’ will also be provided to protect any valuables and dry clothes.

Then it’s time to start paddling! (Four passengers and one guide per raft). Cover 14 kilometers on the Telaga Waja or Ayung Rivers in the course of approximately two hours. The trip is divided into two parts, with a rest stop on the riverbanks at the halfway point.

The scenery is truly breathtaking along these rivers, ranging from gorges and waterfalls to lush farms. Local villagers can be seen toiling their fields, or taking a break in the shade.

Afterwards, be treated to a lunch buffet of Indonesian specialties in a local restaurant with stunning views of the river and surrounding hills. There are shower and toilet facilities available as well.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: The Sunny Side of Bali at Bukit Peninsula

Set off this morning for a full-day exploration of the sun-kissed Bukit Peninsula, home to the important Uluwatu Temple and a mecca for sun worshippers and surfers. Spend the first half of the day at a cool beach club in a hidden cove, accessible only through an electric funicular. After soaking up some sun in this tropical locale, lunch is served in the shade. In the early afternoon, visit the impressive temple, majestically perched on the edge of a steep cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. It is one of the key temples believed to be Bali's spiritual pillars. Drive across the peninsula to Padang Padang Beach. A sundowner will be served at a restaurant venue atop the cliffs. From there, panoramic views open up over the long “Impossibles” surf break where it’s possible to observe surfers shredding waves at sunset. Finally, venture to the Jimbaran Hills and be greeted with a cocktail at a beautiful venue atop an old stone quarry. Enjoy an Asian fusion tapas-style dinner while watching airplanes landing and taking off on the horizon. (L/Sundowner/D)

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Cruise to Nusa Lembongan

Take a trip to tropical paradise on this Nusa Lembongan day cruise, leaving Bali behind and sailing to Lembongan Island for a day of sea and sun. Transfer to Benoa harbour and board the luxury sailing catamaran for a 1.5 until 2-hours cruise. Watch as the shores of Bali fade away and the open sea comes into view. Sail across the turquoise waters, enjoying tea and coffee and light snacks on board.

Arrive at a quiet stretch of beach on Nusa Lembongan, an island oasis of white beaches and clear waters. The day is free to enjoy this blissful paradise. Relax on the soft sands underneath a swaying palm tree, listening to the waves lapping against the short. Alternatively, grab a snorkel to explore the colourful marine life and coral reefs found off the shores of Lembongan. There is also an opportunity to visit a traditional island village to see the seaweed farms and other local cottage industries.

At midday, a buffet lunch will be served at the Waka Beach Club. Feast on a selection of freshly grilled fish, tasty satays, salads and much more all the while enjoying views of the turquoise bay. The Nusa Lembongan day cruise will wrap up around 15:00. Return to the catamaran and cast off for the return journey. Arrive at Bali’s Benoa harbour and transfer to the hotel in time for sunset. (L)

Note:

This trip only operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

We recommend wearing shorts and swimming gear, towel, sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. Bring a change of clothes for after the activities. Shower and toilet are available.

Minimum 2 persons for booking - maximum 40 persons

Overnight in Seminyak

Enjoy the morning in leisure.

In the afternoon around 16:30, be picked up by the guide and driver and head to the famous Tanah Lot Sea Temple, about 20 km from Denpasar.

This seaside temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast, and is easily one of the most photographed sites in Bali -for good reason!

Built around the 16th century, this temple is different from others in that it is so precariously perched on a tiny rock in the middle of crashing waves.  During low tide it’s possible to walk across the exposed tidal area to the base of the temple (but not inside – the temple is only open to practicing Balinese Hindus). During high tide, however, the space between the shore and the temple becomes engulfed with dramatically large waves which crash against the temple rock and make for postcard-worthy photos.

Then, continue to Canggu Beach for a magical Tugudom dinner at Tugu Bali.  This majestic and theatrical dining experience illustrates the royal parades of the King of Majapahit and his entourage approximately five hundred years ago. Decorated in exotic leaves and frangipanis, enjoy a lavish selection of imperial dishes from the Majapahit Palace Era, as well as cuisine from the coastal and hinterland regions of Indonesia.

Return to the hotel after dinner.

In the morning, be free at leisure until transferring to Denpasar International Airport for the departure flight.
